Microsoft’s on Thursday, July 26, 2018, announced the winners of Imagine Cup of the 16th world with technology. The Beehive Drones team from the University of Manchester represented Indonesia and introduced their drone which can be accessed from mobile to bring precision farming solutions to farmers. In this 16th edition of the Imagine Cup competition, Microsoft added three special award categories to address the challenges of today’s digital transformation, namely: Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Mixed Reality.
One of these events is to commemorate 16 years of empowering students to create the world to come. This year, 49 teams from 33 countries, including 20 teams from the Asia Pacific region, were selected to visit Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond, Washington, United States to showcase their intelligence in leveraging modern technology to solve some of the toughest challenges around the world. Previously, each of these student teams had spent months developing their solutions, marketing plans, and competing in the National Finals.
The Beehive Drones team from the University of Manchester was selected to represent Indonesia this year. Beehive Drones Agriculture is a drone that can be accessed via a mobile application to bring precision agriculture to farmers. The system is designed to perform agricultural analysis and agricultural work, as well as facilitate the use of drones via a website or mobile application.

Held annually since 2013, the Microsoft Imagine Cup is the world’s first student technology competition, known among participants as the “Olympics of student technology competitions”.
